Gig postponed:
May 15, 2001
Hey! The MAY 19TH, SHOOKY'S, OELWEINE, IA - WITH: GUERNSEY
show has been postponed! A new date will be posted soon. Thanks!
Status Update Again:
May 9, 2001
Just to keep all you metal heads up-to-date on these side bands
that some of the members of BLACK EYE are in. Tom's other
band CellBlock12 is now officially
"gig ready" and will be replacing opening band "Remover"
(who lost thier guitarist) for BLACK EYE's 5/26 "ID Required" Mason
City gig. Also, Neutral Red
is now bumped to the middle slot band. Now, BLACK EYE has
played a couple past shows with with these crazy boys. The pit WILL
be crazy!!! So you just can't miss this show! Play order will
be: CellBlock12, Neutral Red, BLACK EYE for this 5/26 bill!
Hey, if your in a band and need an opener, CellBlock12 is willing to be
that band! Go to their site and e-mail them! On to other news...
Kind of a bummer... Elvin's other band, Rackitbox has disbanded as
of about a week ago. Matt's band is still looking for a drummer.
And Jom's band Thumbuddy sounds like they are on the verge of playing out
again! Cool.
About the next gig
APRIL 28TH, 2001, (9:00pm - close)
THE VALHALLA
305 MILL STREET, CLERMONT, IA
WITH: REMOVER & GUERNSEY!
You can't miss this show! 3 awesome bands live and in your face. This will be one hell of a special night. Guernsey kicks off the night. This dude is tearing it up in the Waterloo area and little towns all over Iowa. Then Remover takes over. This band Remover just won the "Best New Rock Album Award" in the Minnesota Music Awards! And get this - Tom used to be in a band from '94-'97 with the drummer of Remover! This band was Silver Tears - http://www.geocities.com/everydirtydog/. Then Black Eye takes over and will put a cap in everyones drunk @ss. Get ready to get f'd up boys!
Set times:
Guernsey: (9:00pm - 9:45pm) Aucoustic cover rock from Marion, Ia
Remover: (10:15pm - 11:00pm) Hard original rock from Minneapolis, Mn
Black Eye: (11:30pm - 2:00am) Carnage
Anyway, here is what is going on officially...
* Black Eye status: Black Eye has not broken up. Black Eye does not plan on breaking up. Black Eye is still gigging and practicing on a weekly basis.* Bass Player status: Bassist Elvin Johnson did not quit and was not fired. Elvin is still the bass player of Black Eye.
* Drummer status: Drummer Brock Siemons quit Black Eye back in Oct '00 and was replaced by Jom Van Gelder in Feb '01. However, Brock did finish all booked shows up until Jom took over.
* Other bands: Tom has been an jamming in CellBlock12 - http://www.cellblock12.com/ since Jun '00. Then, sometime during the 4 month long "drummer audition phase" (Nov '00 - Feb '01) Black Eye had, Elvin started jamming with "Rackitbox" - http://www.rackitbox.com/. Matt also started jamming in a "yet-to-be-named" band in this time period. Once Jom was officially in Black Eye, the band he came from "Thumbuddy" (that broke up), got back together around Mar '01. So now all 4 members of Black Eye are in other bands as well as being loyal to Black Eye.
New pics added finally!
March 12, 2001
Just added some new live pics of BLACK EYE! Yes, you
finally get to see what new drummer JOM looks like - if you havn't already
seen BLACK EYE live.... These pics are from the March 3, 2001
gig in Clermont, Iowa. Cool!
Valhalla gig
March 8, 2001
At the Valhalla, Clermont, Iowa on 3/3/01: The weirdo's sure
did come out there! This BLACK EYE gig was awesome.
This was one of the best shows of the year. 3 bands total.
First, Lady Green played and
they played a set original and some cover material from Alice In Chains.
Very cool! Then, all the way from LaCrosse, WI, Liquid
Skin took the stage. What a powerful band. You will see
more shows with the bands on this bill! These guys have opened for
"Jackyl" and a few other bands and are hot on the LaCrosse sceen.
They've headlined the "WareHouse" in LaCrosse several times! They
played all original hard rock and had a brand new CD in tow. This
cd is awesome! Get it! Actually BLACK EYE's guitarist
Tom was in a band called Silver
Tears with the singer James and guitar player Jason from Liquid
Skin from '94-'97. This was a memorable show for all. Then
BLACK
EYE finished out the night with 2 sets of their own. So sorry
if you missed this show. It WAS killer. 3 live rock bands!
Please check out Liquid Skin
and Lady Green web pages and
sign the guestbooks and send them e-mail. Show some luv. There
will for sure be more shows like this to come!
Benjamins Pub
February 17, 2001
P A C K E D ! The facts: 4 days notice to the band and 4
days of little or no advertising........ Did BLACK EYE come
through? HELL YEAH! Did the fans come through? OH HELL
YES! Those are the real facts and this just goes to show that anything
can be cool as shit and BLACK EYE fans ARE some of the best people
around! Thanks to everyone employed at Benjamins Pub and the new
managment. We would like to give a round of applause to the BLACK
EYE fans. And a thanks to Brandon of NineDollarMelonBaller for
the bass rig at the last moment. Thanks again to Guernsey!
SHOOKY'S
February 10, 2001
SOLD THE F OUT! A big-time thanks goes out to Shooky's in Oelwein,
Iowa. Thanks to Guernsey for his wiKKid aucoustic set! Hey, this is the
gig that any band would hold VERY high. It had it all. Blood, sweat, tears,
guts, fights, cops, broken glass, moshing, pushing, equipment destruction,
extremely loud music, throwing beer mugs, headaches, drunken crazy idiots,
sex in the closet, pissing on each other...... What else can any decent
human being want? Look out Shooky's - BLACK EYE WILL BE BACK!
Official News
February 5, 2001
The long, tedious selection period is over. Much respect and thanks
is given to all the awesome area drummers who gave it a shot. Please give
a warm welcome to Mr. Jom Van Gelder as BLACK EYE's new drummer.
Jom comes to the band with vast experience in music and is probably best
known as the drummer of local band "Thumbuddy". Jom will be playing all
shows from this day forward. So get on your crash helmets and get ready
'cause this dude hits HARD.
Cd's/shirts
February 5, 2001
More Cd's and shirts have been ordered and will be available at
the next show. For those of you that have been going from store to store
in search of cd's, they will be re-stocked very soon. For those of you
who have requested cd's/shirts from the web site (and havn't received an
e-mail from BLACK EYE), please e-mail BLACK EYE ASAP for
order info. Thanks and have a nice day.
Ben!
January 12, 2001
Congratulations to Tom and Tara Ogle on the birth of their 1st
baby, a healthy son named Benjamin Joseph Ogle. Ben was born January 12,
2001 at 8:34am and weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and 18 inches long. And yes,
Tom has already made sure one of his guitar picks fits in Ben's hand. A
perfect fit!!!

Drummer

Official press release: As of 10-13-00 (friday the 13th) BLACK
EYE began auditioning & searching for a new drummer. If you believe
you could be the drummer -or- if you know anyone who may, please e-mail
(b-eye@usa.net) -or- phone (319-274-4048) for details. Exitiing drummer

position is filled.
Another web page
December 7, 2000
BLACK EYE has been added on a new web page. Here
it is!. Thanks to GigAmerica
for supporting & helping out B.E. Check it out!
A very little town....
December 5, 2000
BLACK EYE played at "POONANNY'S" in Scarville, Iowa on December
2nd (20 miles NW of Mason City, Iowa). What a night - what a night! Now,
given the fact this towns population is ONLY 62, their had to be
triple that figure by the end of the 3rd set scrunched into the small building.
This is the smallest town BLACK EYE has ever played. Man, these
wild country people are HUNGRY for live heavy metal music. Don't think
a lot of bands play up there... Anyway, this was a cool show -- as no one
got barfed on or arrested this time & no equipment was ruined. Well,
except for a mic stand being bumped into and the mic smacking Tom on the
top of his head... That was funny. At least the "normal pedal destruction"
didn't happen this time...... Ha ha ha... Pictures are sure to be posted
soon. Thanks to Josh and Zach for taking the video too! Who knows? Maybe
the future holds a BLACK EYE video compilation? Still wondering
why Rage Against The Machine makes people go so crazy they start killing
each other.... Anyone?

Clermont Gig.
November 19, 2000
Along with the bitter cold, the cutting wind and the new snow,
BLACK
EYE came rolling into Clermont! And what a turn-out... It's amazing
what a few ad's on several radio stations does -- thanks to Joe and staff
at the Valhalla! BLACK EYE would also like to thank opening bands
"LADY GREEN" and "GUERNSEY" for pile-driving sets. Both bands are obviously
getting where they need to be. Last, but not least, a very special thanks
goes out to WADE ROBERTSON for filling-in on the drums with only
5 days notice! This dude REALLY smokes!!! Thanks Wade!. Fun was had by
all in attendance, as the gig started turning into an "open-mic-night!"
with Matt M. & Chris (members of Lady Green) jamming with Guernsey
-- and Elvin even going up and playing a feww songs with Guernsey. Classic
70's aucoustic rock couldn't be played better / weirder! Ha Ha Ha... Then,
Jason Herman and James Deeney (former band mates of Tom's in Silver
Tears) showed up out of the blue and jammed out on Crazy Train with
Black Eye! Those guys can sure put the power into a classic tune - you've
gotta hear their new band too - (LIQUID
SKIN). They played their sample mix on a set break - it's fuckin' killer!
Their debut cd is soon to be released! Go check out their web page. Well,
with only 1 fight and 3 police cars showing up to make an arrest, this
was one night to remember. Why is it Rage Against The Machine songs make
people want to fight? Then the final song... Metal Health by Quiet Riot.
Yes it's true. BLACK EYE did their own little version of this ultimate
80's tune with the help of James from Liquid Skin and Dave from Lady Green
adding in & switching off on lead vocals with Matt. Thanks to all the
loyal Black Eye'ified fans (old & new). You rule! Everyone was drivin'
to metal health fo' real...
Counter is back up.
November 9, 2000
The BLACK EYE counter is back up and running. It had been
down for awhile before it was caught... Please e-mail
the admin when things don't work right. Thanks.
Fast times at Black Eye high
November 4, 2000
Thanks to all the loyal fans that attended the show 11/4 at JR's
in Farmersburg. Also, thanks to "Lady Green" (you guys rock and PLEASE
get your cd out!) and Jody and the staff at JR's. Totally pro! Hey, if
you missed this show, you missed a kick @ss time. That's right, this gig
was packed and the beer ran free (literally). The people were extra crazy
this night and Tom can testify to that. During the song "Void", a weird-o
accidentally "voided" his own stomach contents directly on to Tom! Yes,
it's true, his body and black les paul were covered in chunks... A short
break followed along with that puke-dude running for his life... Why does
shit like this happen at every show? Carnage, mayhem, bloody moshing, broken
bottles. You name it, it happened. But hey, that's rock N roll people!!!
So anyway, Tom wiped himself off, stepped up to the plate, and gave 'em
hell again. An excellent show and that is no lie. You just had to be there...
Thanks everyone! Look out Clermont!!!!!!!!
Guestbook is back up.
October 16, 2000
The BLACK EYE guestbook is back up and running. There are
still a few bugs with images, but they are being worked on. Thanks.

HOGSTOCK RULES!
August 6, 2000
What an awesome time at Hogstock VI in Parkersburg. This was such
a great gig, it's the kind of gig that you dream about playing and this
one will be remembered forever. A kick ass moshin crowd. Everything was
the BEST! The beer ran free like a waterfall, lots of great food, great
entertainment. Lady Green, Guernsey, StiffHard WoodsMen, Aftershock --
they all rocked hardcore. Everything and everyone involved was perfect.
Except that one dude who got his head cut open on BLACK EYE'S 2nd
song (which was ironically titled "ONE MAN OUT"!)... You better read the
lyrics on that song - cause they came true boy! This poor dude was rushed
to the E.R.! 20 stitches! Crazy shit! Then found out he was like 1st in
State Wrestling though high school! Thats what you get when you get in
the BLACK EYE pit... Be careful boys n girls. Luckily no one else
got hurt. Just a couple punches here and there... And then, uh oh... Naked
chicks!.... and guys. Slip n slid! Camping.. People running around without
a care. Man, you just had to be there... Someone better get BLACK EYE
some pictures and / or the video of this show. This just goes to show that
the city of Parkersburg (and surrounding area's) are a big time staple
in Iowa. P'burg just ain't all athletics... Ha ha ha... Yo! A big time
thanks goes out to Mike Jansen and Rusty Eddy. And of course all who attended
this totally kick ass show; you are all now official bonified BLACK
EYE fans. THANK YOU! Can you say HOGSTOCK VII!?
